Tourists may stick to the main streets like Hollywood or Sunset and often get stuck in tourist traps and chain restaurants, but the best ones take a bit more insight.

Locanda Veneta

Locanda Veneta, located at 8638 West 3rd Street close to the Beverly Hills area, has had a presence in LA for decades. Step inside, and you're transported to a charming Venetian trattoria, where classic Italian dishes are prepared with meticulous care using premium, fresh ingredients by chef Andre Ginekis, Sr. Their homemade pastas, fresh seafood, and dedication to traditional recipes and cooking techniques top some Google reviewer's picks for the best Italian restaurants in Los Angeles.

One Google reviewer recently posted in August of 2025:

"Wow! What a surprising find near Beverly Hills/West Hollywood area. From the front it doesn’t seem much but on the inside it’s transforms into a welcoming Italian style place."

Locanda Veneta boasts a 4.7 rating on Google, which is considered optimal.

Other Top Contenders for Best Italian in LA

Los Angeles offers many other phenomenal Italian dining experiences. Here are a few more that consistently impress:

Felix Trattoria (Venice)

Chef Evan Funke’s ode to regional Italian pasta, Felix Trattoria, is a Venice Beach sensation. Known for its mesmerizing pasta lab where fresh pasta is made daily by hand, Felix offers a vibrant atmosphere and a menu deeply rooted in Italian tradition. It’s a true celebration of pasta perfection.  Felix is a must-try if you're in the Venice area and is a local-favorite as well.  Joe Rogan of UFC and podcast fame also makes it a point to stop into Felix when he's back in LA.

A Google reviewer also in August of 2025 mentioned:

"Fantastic meal at Felix! You really can’t go wrong with an Evan Funke restaurant."

 A different reviewer however mentioned:

"I had one of the worst dining experiences at Felix Trattoria. Our server, a white blonde woman, seemed friendly on the surface—but what happened with the food was unacceptable."

Reviews are mixed like any restaurant so we can take this with a grain of salt.  Felix has a 4.5 Google rating, which is a great place to be.

Osteria Mozza (Hancock Park)

Co-owned by culinary icon Nancy Silverton, Osteria Mozza is known for its incredible mozzarella bar, serving fresh, artisanal cheeses with a variety of accompaniments. Their pasta dishes are equally renowned, crafted with bold flavors and a rustic elegance that defines Californian-Italian cuisine.  Most online reviews mention the amazing orecchiette but other s mention although the food was good, it wasn't worth the price tag.  Osteria Mozza has a 4.4 star rating on Google as of this writing.

Bestia (Arts District)

Nestled in the Arts District, Bestia offers a rustic Italian experience with an industrial-chic edge. Known for its house-cured meats, wood-fired pizzas, and inventive pasta dishes, Bestia consistently delivers a dynamic and delicious meal that makes it a must-visit for foodies.  Bestia boasts a whopping 3800+ reviews on Google, making this a long-time and popular spot.

People seem to love both the valet parking and the Cavatelli. One reviewer in October of 2025 mentioned:

"Great food albeit expensive for the pasta portions served.  Must have dishes: -marrow -nduja pizza -cavatelli pasta -lamb neck -burrata pizza"

Other, not so glowing reviews mentioned:

"First off, let me start by saying, do not get pizza here unless you like a soppy soggy mess. "

Which may not be a fair comment, as several traditional styles of Italian pizza like Neapolitan style are supposed to be make with a wetter center.

Miceli's (Hollywood and Las Palmas)

For a more casual yet equally memorable experience, Miceli's brings a old-school Hollywood twist to classic Italian-American fare. With delicious pizzas, creative pasta dishes, and great cocktail options, give them a shot.  You'll love it or hate it if you aren't into the sketchiness hustle and bustle on Hollywood Blvd at night.

Like most tourist-heavy spots, Miceli's has a bit lower over star rating on review sites, a 4.2.  One reviewer in August of 2025 mentioned:

Far past its prime, if it ever had one. The wait staff were polite and pleasant -- bless them. But the food is garbage.

Angelini Osteria (Fairfax)

A long-standing and local-favorite, Angelini Osteria offers a refined yet traditional Italian dining experience. Chef Gino Angelini’s cooking is soulful and authentic, with standout dishes like the Spaghetti Uni and a variety of perfectly executed meat and fish preparations. It's a beloved spot for a classic Italian meal.  Give this place a shot.  If not for the food, you at least get to say you've tried it.

Most reviews on Google mention the Lemon Past or Bone Marrow but others warn of not ordering through Uber Eats or any third-party delivery platform.

"Ordered via uber eats. They sent the smallest portion of this meal to me cold with no seasoning on it. There was also nothing in the bag to increase the seasoning. Not sure how this is worth $33 which is the price on Uber eats…. This restaurant might be good in person, but do not order it Take out. "
